You can book an appointment to meet with two student advisers and a supervising solicitor to receive:
- Advice on whether the small claims service is an appropriate remedy for your particular problem
- Advice on initiating a small claim
- Advice on defending a small claim
- Representation in the small claims court throughout the whole process
Any representation in the small claims court will be carried out by two students working in a pair, all of whom are graduate students completing their Diploma in Professional Legal Practice, and supervised by a qualified litigation solicitor.
The small claims court will be changing to Simple Procedure on 28th November 2016. The new procedure will introduce online processing for most payments up to £5000. The online procedure portal will also allow members of the legal profession and the public to start actions, submit case documents, pay fees and also track the progress of the case. We will be adjusting our service to accommodate this once it has been implemented within the sheriff court.
